Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO), Along With Other Tech Giants, .ro Domains Were Hacked

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO), Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), Kaspersky Lab and other tech giants Romanian domain names were hijacked. Their Romanian domain names were redirected to a hacked server in the Netherlands.

Director of the global research and analysis team at security vendor Kaspersky Lab, said that attackers made changes to the records for google.ro, yahoo.ro, microsoft.ro, hotmail.ro, windows.ro, kaspersky.ro and paypal.ro.

The websites were not able to display the content they used to deliver. Attackers were displaying their own content on the websites they hacked. The screen shots of the defaced websites were also posted by the hacker on Zone-H.org website.

A senior e-threat analyst at Romanian antivirus vendor, Bitdefender, said that the websites were forwarded to a server in the Netherlands which itself was hacked. Not all Romanian users were affected by the attack.

At the close of the trading day, Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) shares rose -0.11% to settle at $18.91. Intraday trading was between $18.53 – $18.95. In the past year, the stock has traded within a range of $14.35 – $19.16. The last session’s volume of 30.31 million shares was up from the average daily trading volume of 26.91 million shares.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) shares were up +1.93% to close at $683.67. The stock traded between $663.89 – $684.91 during the last trading session. In the last 12 months the shares have traded between $556.52 and $774.38. The last session’s volume of 3.04 million shares was a bit higher than their average daily trading volume of 2.89 million shares.

AOL, Inc. (NYSE:AOL) shares in the last session were up +1.04% closing at $36.96. The stock traded in a range of $35.96 – $37.08. In the last year the stock has moved within a range of $13.49 – $43.93. The last session’s volume of 2.43 million shares was up from their average daily trading volume of 2.34 million shares.

Another rival company, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), traded up +1.03% moving to $27.36. Intraday trading recorded the stock price in a range between $26.77 – $27.39. In the previous 52 weeks the stock has traded between $24.75– $32.95. The last session’s volume of 53.02 million shares was down from their average daily trading volume of 60.58 million shares.
