Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) is Going to Deliver Live and On-Demand Programming to FiOS TV Subscribers

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) has been looking busy in signing various deals with Comcast’s (NASDAQ: CMCSA) NBCUniversal subsidiary. This move will allow the company to deliver live and on-demand programming from NBC, CNBC and other networks to FiOS TV subscribers. This service will be provided both in and out of the home.

TV Everywhere apps will enable FIOS subscribers to access NBCU content. NBCU last month signed a similar deal with Verizon FiOS’ rival, Cablevision (NYSE: CVC). This agreement includes retransmission-consent for NBC owned-and-operated stations and multiplatform distribution rights to USA, Bravo Media, cloo, Chiller, NBC Sports Network, Oxygen Media, Style Media, Syfy, Telemundo Media and Golf Channel.

The Company started live TV programming from almost 75 networks last week. Verizon subscribers still have various issues while watching programs from local NBC stations and other broadcast affiliates on their FIOS Mobile apps.

At the close of the trading day, Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) shares fell -1.05% to settle at $43.30. Intraday trading was between $43.04 – $43.51. In the past year, the stock has traded within a range of $35.32 – $48.77. The last session’s volume of 12.28 million shares was down from the average daily trading volume of 13.09 million shares.

United States Cellular Corporation (NYSE:USM) shares were up +0.52% to close at $34.58. The stock traded between $34.22 – $34.62 during the last trading session. In the last 12 months the shares have traded between $33.16 and $48.30. The last session’s volume of 77,952 shares was a bit lower than their average daily trading volume of 118,878 shares.

CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE:CTL) shares in the last session were down -0.31%, closing at $38.40. The stock traded in a range of $38.11 – $38.43. In the last year the stock has moved within a range of $34.81 – $43.43. The last session’s volume of 3.75 million shares was down from their average daily trading volume of 4.70 million shares.

Another rival company, Telephone & Data Systems, Inc. (NYSE:TDS), traded down -0.04% moving to $23.03. Intraday trading recorded the stock price in a range between $22.84 – $23.18. In the previous 52 weeks the stock has traded between $19.20 – $29.32. The last session’s volume of 358,709 shares was down from their average daily trading volume of 647,915 shares.
