Energy firms TOTAL S.A. (ADR) (NYSE:TOT) and Inpex Corp are looking for $20 billion in loans to fund the Ichthys liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Australia, sources familiar with the deal said, in what is predicted to be the world’s biggest project finance loan.
More than half of the credit needed for the $34 billion project is expected to come from Export Finance & Insurance Corp, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), K-Sure, Nippon Export & Investment Insurance and Coface, Export-Import Bank of Korea.
