Rumors: News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA)’s Peter Liguori to join Tribune Co

News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA)’s former TV-programming executive has been chosen by Tribune Co for their CEO post. Tribune Co is planning to make Peter Liguori their Chief Executive Officer after the company frees themselves from recent Bankruptcy.

The Federal Communications Commission gave the Broadcast License and cross-ownership waivers to the new owners of the company. This move provides them the opportunity to be released from bankruptcy. Tribune Co is the owner of almost 10 newspapers and 23 television stations.

In late July, Peter Liguori took the role of controlling the telecommunications and media team of Carlyle Group. He was the Chief Operating Officer at Discovery Communications from May 2009 to December 2011. He joined News Corp in 1998 where he was responsible for business and programming operations for FX and Fox Movie Channel.

At the close of the trading day, News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA) shares rose +0.73% to settle at $23.29. Intraday trading was between $22.97 – $23.46. In the past year, the stock has traded within a range of $15.93 – $25.50. The last session’s volume of 25.06 million shares was up from the average daily trading volume of 16.17 million shares.

Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) shares were up +0.88% to close at $35.45. The stock traded between $34.95 – $35.57 during the last trading session. In the last 12 months the shares have traded between $20.90 and $37.96. The last session’s volume of 15.96 shares was a bit higher than their average daily trading volume of 12.92 shares.

Viacom, Inc. (NASDAQ:VIAB) shares in the last session were up +0.47% closing at $49.46. The stock traded in a range of $48.76 – $49.61.
