British oil giant BP plc (NYSE:BP) declared on Friday that it has awarded a agreement to a joint venture run by Petrofac Limited and China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation (CPECC).

The 3 year contract which came into consequence at the start of current month covers inspection, maintenance and fix works of degassing stations, rotating machinery and cluster pumping stations at the Rumaila oil field in Southern Iraq. The contract is worth $229M to the joint venture, with Petrofac receiving about $160M.

The Oklahoma City energy producer’s shares plunged 20 percent in early trading Friday after the company announced mixed third-quarter results and surprised investors by declareing plans to sell its Permian Basin oil fields Thursday evening. The stock has rebounded some, currently trading 9 percent lower to $5.55

In last trading session, SandRidge Energy Inc. (NYSE:SD) moved down -9.67% to close at $5.51 and its overall volume during last trading session was 76.72 million shares. Its opening price was $5.68 while its shares hit the day high price of $5.98 and day low of $4.81.

The owner of the biggest rare-earth deposit outside of China Molycorp Inc (NYSE:MCP), declared that it’s being investigated by the U.S. SEC over the accuracy of the firm’s public disclosures.
Molycorp has plunged 67% this year following a plunge in prices for rare earths, a group of 17 chemically similar elements utilized in wind turbines and hybrid cars.

Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) with a 0.26% gain to $30.56 in the latest trading session has changed its distance from 200-Day Moving Average to -7.36% and 50-Day Moving Average to -10.11%. It captures $28.36 billion in market value. The mean rating 2.00 is set by analysts. The company is projected to report $0.62 per share for the quarter ending Dec-12 as compared to $1.11 earned a year earlier, according to 30 analysts surveyed by Reuters. The average EPS forecast of 34 analysts for the full-year is $2.99, down as compared to $4.08 earned a year ago.
