Vale SA (NYSE:VALE), the top laggard of the world’s three best mining firms this year, is slated to go through the biggest spending cut since 2009 as iron-ore markets signal prices are ready to decline for nearly three years.

In last trading session, Vale SA (ADR) (NYSE:VALE) reported the loss of -1.25% to close at $17.43 and its overall traded volume was 15.98 million shares, more than the average volume of 15.97 million.

VALE has earnings per share of $2.47 with the net profit margin of 24.53% and operating margin of 34.19%.

Zacks lately kept their Neutral recommendation on Gerdau S.A. (GGB), one of the top steel producing firms in the world.

The steel-manufacturer performs its operations through 70 commercial branches in Brazil and has almost 59 steel producing units all over the globe, inclusive of joint ventures and linked firms.

Gerdau SA (ADR) (NYSE:GGB) moved down -4.82% with the closing price of $8.49. The overall volume in the last trading session was 11.55 million shares. Its fifty two week range was $7.11-$10.82. The total market capitalization remained $14.45 billion.

GGB is ahead of its 52 week low with 12.90% and its last month’s price volatility remained 2.81%. Its beta coefficient was 1.97 with a target price of $22.89. CPL has institutional ownership remained 19.70%. Company’s current year earnings per share dropped with -18.74% while the five years EPS growth rate was -13.25%.

A Brazilian lawsuit looking for almost $20 billion in charges from Chevron Corp (CVX) and Transocean Ltd for accused environmental damage from a November 2011 oil leakage seems to be coming to a swift negotiated solution, the case’s original prosecutor informed Reuters on Friday.

Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) plunged -0.09% and closed at $105.69 in last trading session. The overall traded volume was 6.68 million shares. Stock’s 52 weeks high price was $118.53 and 52 weeks low price was $95.73.

 Nexen Inc. (USA) (NYSE:NXY) has now dropped about -6.88% from its record high price level, and has advanced by 54.27% for this year. It closed at $24.36, trading 15.54% above its 200 day moving average and -0.59% below its 20 day moving average. Latest close brings its distance from its 52-week low at +80.13%. The stock has a PE ratio of 34.31 and their market value is $12.91 billion.

As of latest close, Walter Energy, Inc. (NYSE:WLT) shares are down about -49.59% for 2012 and topped out a 52-week high of $76.95 (Feb 06, 2012). Since then, it has retreated 60.33% but stands 7.82% above 52-week low. The shares slipped below the 200-Day SMA ($38.14) and are now sitting -10.52% below 50-day SMA. The performance measured for the month was -13.32% and weekly performance appeared at +3.21%.
